The Journey

Way · Truth · Life

Be. Become. Live.

The Journey is a practice pathway for following Jesus through the whole journey of grace. Our tradition handed us a beautiful vision of discipleship, but not the concrete practices ordinary people in ordinary churches could actually walk. This is that pathway, a companion to David Busic’s Way, Truth, Life, grounded in the Wesleyan means of grace. Nine practices. One threshold. Three years.

The three-year arc

It begins at a threshold and opens into three years, each one a movement of grace.

Threshold: Baptism

The doorway. Grace made visible, where the journey begins.

The Way, Year One

Prayer, Sabbath, Scripture. Learning to show up.

The Truth, Year Two

Solitude, Fasting, the Table. Going deeper.

The Life, Year Three

Together, Serving, Worship. Being sent outward.

How it works

The Journey is meant to become the formation culture of a local church, three layers working at once. The pulpit carries the theology, so the whole congregation hears the grace beneath each practice. The cohort walks it together, twelve people at a time, three practices a year, in the spirit of Wesley’s class meeting. And the guide is the companion book for every practice, the same shape every time: overview, an anchor passage of Scripture, honest questions, the practice for the week, and three reflection questions that never change.

The first guides

The first four guides, each a companion to David Busic’s Way, Truth, Life. Being released as they are ready, beginning this fall.
